Saturday, 16 January 2016 - 12:00am

The Winter 2015 issue of The Newman Rambler features a range of articles by distinguished international scholars from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds on end-of-life issues.  These discussions were prompted by the passing of right-to-die legislation in Quebec in 2014 and by the Canadian Supreme Court’s decision last year to strike down a prohibition in the Criminal Code against physician-assisted suicide.  In his contribution to the issue, Nigel Biggar sets out the prudential case against legislation permitting intentional killing on the grounds of suffering.
