The Revd Dr Jonathan Brant holds an M.A. in Theological Education (with distinction) from King’s College, London; an M.Phil. in Modern Systematic Theology and a D.Phil. in Theology, both from the University of Oxford.

His research interests cover two areas. (1) The theology of culture: His doctoral research drew upon systematic theology, specifically the thought of Paul Tillich, film theory and qualitative research in considering the potential religious impact of contemporary Latin American cinema.  The monograph has been published by Oxford University Press. Currently he is considering construals of freedom in contemporary narrative fiction, both literature and film. (2) The theory and practice of moral formation / character development, specifically the question of what resources might be offered to Oxford University postgraduates to help them develop into wise thinkers and good leaders who may be expected to have a beneficial impact around the world throughout their careers.
